Our Story

Hi! I’m Sarah,

A brainfart that started brewing some four years ago, whilst talking amongst friends came to reality in August 2016. I was reminiscing on when I was a kid and the fruit and veg truck and milkman used to come down the street. I eventually got sick of talking about the idea of setting up a service that got a community back to buying from locals that supplied local produce for locals. Deciding I had nothing really to loose, I decided to just go for it, and The Real Peel was born.

I love food. I love trying to grow food, but it turns out I am not a very good farmer, so leaving it to the pros, we opted instead to offer our services to the Mackay region in the way of mystery boxes, filled with seasonal produce grown from around our region. It is a bit of a risk offering mystery boxes but we want our customers to enjoy fruit and veggies as much as we do and possibly try new additions that they may never have thought to try before. We also don’t think its necessary to see the produce leave the region on a truck, to be sent back up to us with a hefty price tag and sprayed with who knows what to help prolong the life span of the produce. Why not eat it when it has just been pulled from the ground?, and this is what we believe sets us apart from our big chain competitors.

We have only been up and running for a few months now, but we are super excited about meeting you all and enjoying the ride that The Real Peel has to offer.
